Fried Apples

Source: This is just a rough recipe of what I throw together. It's not fancy, but it's easy and tasty.

4 medium apples (I used Honeycrisp), peeled, cored and sliced
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
dash of freshly grated nutmeg

Melt butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg, stirring until well-combined. Add apples and cover, cooking until slightly softened; about 5-10 minutes. Uncover and simmer until liquid is nearly gone and the mixture is thick and syrupy; another 5 minutes or so.
